A Classic for Halloween – Women’s Vampire Costumes 2011

When only the spookiest will do, women’s vampire costumes are the perfect choice for the best horror night of the year – Halloween. Although this costume is chosen by many, there are variations that can make it unique to the person who has chosen to be this blood-thirsty version of the bat. The costume is a timeless choice and will likely continue to be for many years.

The costume itself with the black cape and the fangs that are ready to draw blood are signatures of women’s vampire costumes as well as men’s. The mystery of the vampire has been with us throughout history. From the 1700s when vampires were actually thought to exist to the 1900s when Bella Lugosi portrayed the stalkers with a hunger for human blood, vampires have ruled the night.

It is no wonder the costumes have remained popular for women as well as men and children. They are available in a variety of sizes and styles. The sexy, alluring vampire is ready to draw you to danger. The costume will include a dress or a cape or both. The dress can be red with black lace accents on the sleeves and the upper part of the dress. It can also be totally black. A choker is usually worn and the sleeves are long and flowing as well. Some have stand-up collars and can have a hood.

The makeup worn to add to the authentic look of women’s vampire costumes is a mixture of white with gray and green overtones. This gives the appearance of the undead and adding gray under the cheekbones will allow the look to be even more realistic. Dark eyeliner will help to give the vampire the look desired and a wig of dark, long hair can be added.

The cloak or cape that can be part of the costume comes in a variety of styles and materials. It is usually floor length with a hood. The lining may be red. They may be velvet, wool or a mixture of velvet and satin.  This will depend on which version of the vampire you choose and comfort levels. The capes have a cord for tying them around the neck to help hold them on, although some have a clasp or can be slipped over the head.

This choice can even include colored contacts to give your eyes the unreal appearance that vampires are known to possess. Adding a few drops of ‘blood’ around the mouth will add to the look and have people running at the sight of this vampire who is on the prowl. This is a great costume idea and it can be as authentic as you choose.

If you are planning on attending a party that will judge the costumes for the authentic look and creativeness or are just planning to dress up for some Halloween fun, there are a number of options. Whether you have been lying in a coffin for hundreds of years or are a modern day vampire that has been walking among the living for the last century, women’s vampire costumes can add fun and excitement to the Halloween season.
